Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Canada

Manage ABC’s Canadian marketing, sales, non-auditing client services and relationship development out of ABC’s Toronto office. Oversee all related Canadian strategic planning, new business development, and initiatives designed to reinforce ABC’s brand attributes and grow market share.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Work closely with the organization’s senior staff and its board of directors to assess the evolving market, develop and execute strategic plans of action.
  • Liaison to the ABC board’s Canadian committee as well as Canadian-based advisory committees.
  • Provide leadership to strengthen ABC’s brand with clients and position it for growth among prospects.
  • Develop one-on-one relationships with senior level executives from the advertising, advertising agency, publishing and digital communities.
  • Act as special liaison to ABC members operating in the French language.
  • In collaboration with corporate Sr. VP-Communications, act as ABC’s subject matter expert on all strategic communications issues including development and execution of PR activities, reporter interviews, and development of strategic communication materials.
  • Team player to work collaboratively to manage cross-functional initiatives with other departments and provide sound recommendations on same.
  • Canadian sales and marketing program development and execution for all ABC products and services including ABC’s digital arm; ABC Interactive.
  • Ability to travel (20%) in North America.

Job Specifications:

  • 10+ years experience within the advertising and publishing industry with a marketing and sales orientation.
  • 5+ years in a management position.
  • Fluent in both English and French languages.
  • University education and undergraduate degree.
  • Proven ability to work in a constantly changing environment and to manage concurrent actions effectively.
  • Strong and versatile writing and presentation skills with demonstrated experiences in developing clear, concise materials under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans (including market positioning, key messages, and tactics) and to implement the plans to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to create consensus and manage change within an association model.
