ABC Policy Regarding Magazine Cover Lines
1. A represented value of books or novels may be used in cover lines of magazines provided that:
-
(a) the complete book or novel is published or serialized in the magazine,
(b) if the book or novel is condensed or excerpted, this fact must be made clear as part of the cover line.
2. A represented value of patterns, plans, prints and similar items which are part of the editorial content may be promoted on cover lines. The value of free standing patterns, plans and similar items should not be promoted in cover lines if the value exceeds 50% of the single copy price.
3. Information about represented dollar savings of rebate offers which are part of the editorial content may be promoted in cover lines. Reference to or publicizing of advertiser coupons with a represented aggregate value of more than 50% of the basic single copy price is not permitted in cover lines.
