Farm Publication Membership—Getting Started

About ABC

  • ABC is the world's first and largest circulation auditing organization.
  • ABC is a not-for-profit, member-driven organization; supported by publishers, advertisers and advertising agencies.
  • ABC provides enhanced credibility through third-party audits of farm and business publications, magazines and newspapers.
  • ABC welcomes all farm publications regardless of size, frequency and percentage of paid or non-paid circulation.

Application Process

It's easy...just submit the following to ABC:

  1. Completed application form—available from ABC's Web site.
  2. Deposit toward the initial audit costs.
  3. Recent issue of your publication.

That's it! Once you recieve ABC's letter acknowledging the application, you may begin using the phrase "ABC Membership Applied For (date)."

Note: Membership status and use of the ABC logo are granted after the release of your Initial Audit Report.

Initial Audit

Your initial audit will be scheduled upon receipt of your application and deposit. The initial audit period (selected by the publisher) will cover either a three- or six-month timeframe. An initial audit period of less than six months must include at least two consecutive issues of the publication. You are allowed 12 months from the date of application to begin your initial audit.

Publisher's Statements

As an ABC member, you will file two Publisher's Statements each year covering the six-month periods ending June and December. These statements, which are subject to audit, contain your publication's claimed circulation figures.

An annual audit will be conducted by ABC to verify the information in your Publisher's Statements.
