Audience-FAX Initiative Moves Forward
The Audience-FAX initiative continues to move forward in preparation for the release of U.S. daily newspaper audience FAS-FAX data in November. Now that the Aug. 27 opt-out notification deadline has passed, newspapers should mark these upcoming dates on the calendar:
- Oct. 1ABC’s Publisher’s Statement online filing tool opens to members. The tool will be prepopulated with all available Audience-FAX data. This is the first time members will have the opportunity to view their data in “read-only” mode.
- Nov. 5Audience-FAX data is released in conjunction with ABC’s circulation FAS-FAX report.
If you are participating in Audience-FAX but have not yet filled out the participation questionnaire, please fill it out online and submit it to ABC.
Audience-FAX Resources
On August 22, ABC held a free Audience-FAX webinar that was an informative overview of the program and its reporting requirements. More than 230 newspapers attended the session. A recording of the webinar and copies of the slides are available on ABC’s Web site. Additional resources, including Audience-FAX reporting options, FAQs and prototypes are also posted on ABC’s Web site.
About Audience-FAX
Audience-FAX is a new audience reporting initiative for U.S. daily newspapers that for the first time integrates newspaper readership, online audience and Web site activity data on ABC circulation reports. All audience and Web site data in Audience-FAX will be independently audited by ABC and will be reported in ABC Publisher’s Statements, Audit Reports and FAS-FAX. The data will also be available in an online database hosted by Scarborough Research. The database will be free to ABC members and will allow advertisers to generate custom reports on national and local newspapers comparing selected markets or papers across a range of print demographic segments.
Audience-FAX is available in two tiers. The first tier is comprised of newspapers in syndicated Scarborough-measured markets that meet Reader Profile standards. A complete list of tier one newspapers for the September 2007 reporting period is available on ABC’s Web site. All other newspapers are part of the tier two category.
