Password and Subscription Information

Last month we walked NewsBulletin readers through the steps of analyzing verified circulation. In this issue, we will delve even deeper into the ePeriodicals tool and learn how to look at paragraphs 6a and 6b of the consumer magazine Publisher’s Statement for even more information.

The final report we produce will allow us to see a breakout by distribution location for public place verified circulation and name source for individually addressed verified circulation.

For this exercise, we will use the report we created last month. If you did not save your report or would like to start over, click here to access our step-by-step process from last month.

First, enter your login information in the Statement Access and e-Data area on ABC’s Web site at www.accessabc.com.

Step 2

Choose the ePeriodicals button from the list of menu options.

Step 3

Next, choose the U.S. Consumer Publications button.

Step 4

Select the Retrieve Query button.

Step 5

Locate the report you created last month, we titled ours Verified Analysis Part 1, and click Edit Query.

Step 6

On the Title Search Page, the titles from the saved query are already highlighted. You can add additional titles by holding down the Control key and selecting the titles.

Step 7

Next, Select the Timeframe. Since verified circulation was first reported in the most recent Publisher’s Statement period (June 2006), select Current.

Step 8

Now scroll down to the Subscription Analysis header and select Verified Subscriptions and Continue.

Step 9

The next screen allows you to choose the fields you would like in your final report. We chose the following criteria (Magazine Name and Statement Date are included by default):

  • Additional Analysis of Verified Circulation
  • Verified Subscription Circulation
  • % of Total Verified Circulation
Select Continue.

Step 10

Your final report appears on the next screen. From here, there are several additional options for your report:

  1. You can download the file onto your own computer in Excel format by clicking the Download button across the top of the screen. This makes the report easy to manipulate.
  2. You can e-mail the report to other people in your office by selecting the Email Report button.
  3. You can save the report by selecting Save Query. This option allows you to name and save your report for future use without downloading it onto your computer. You can also delete old reports from this screen.
