eNewspapersAdditional Ways to Search by ZIP Code
In last month’s e-Data Analysis Tools Tips and Tricks column, ABC’s Susan Bartucci, assistant manager sales and marketing, explained how to use the Map Tool to search by ZIP code. In this issue, Bartucci explains additional ways ABC members can search newspaper circulation by ZIP code. Step 1 First, click the Reports and Data Access menu option in the right-side navigation on ABC’s Web site at www.accessabc.com.
Step 2 Enter your login information. Step 3 Choose the eNewspapers button from the list of menu options.
Step 4 Next, choose the U.S. Daily & Weekly button.
Step 5 Scroll down until you see Single ZIP code search. Here, you can search for newspapers in a single ZIP code or search multiple ZIP codes by separating them with a comma (i.e. 60030, 60455, 60406, 60539) or Scroll down until you see Series of ZIP codes. This option allows you to search using a ZIP code series separated by a dash (i.e., 60030-60173).
After you have entered the ZIP codes you want to search, select the ZIP Code Search button. Step 6 The next screen displays the newspapers that have circulation in the ZIP codes you selected. Choose the newspaper titles you want included in your search and select the time frame for your search, Current or History. Step 7 At this point you can choose to run a Map report by selecting the MAP Report button and following the steps in last month’s column (begin with Step 9).
This month, we scroll down to the Circulation Analyses by Market heading and select the Distribution by ZIP Code option. This report option displays up to 10 years of ZIP code circulation data. Now select the Continue button.
Step 8 Now you can select the data elements to include in your final report. We choose Total Paid Circulation and % of Household Coverage and select Create Report.
Step 9 This screen displays your final report featuring the newspaper titles in the ZIP codes you selected, the city and state of publication, the audit date of the data included in the report, and the data elements we selected – total paid circulation and percent of household coverage. From here there are several options for your report:
