ABC Launches Flyer Distribution Verification Service In Canada
ABC recently announced the launch of its Flyer Distribution Verification Service (FDVS) in Canada. FDVS is designed to provide advertisers with the assurance that their valuable flyers are properly handled and distributed by publishers. It is also a great way for newspaper publishers to market their flyer distribution programs to prospective advertisers. “When buyers develop a flyer distribution advertising plan, they count on each flyer reaching its audience,” commented Bruce Claassen, CEO, Genesis Media Inc. “ABC’s new FDVS audit provides assurance to advertisers that their flyer plans will be carried out and delivered as intended.” Already 10 CanWest MediaWorks newspapers have enrolled in the service: Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, The Gazette (Montreal, Quebec), Ottawa Citizen, Leader-Post (Regina, Saskatchewan), The Star Phoenix (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan), The Province (Vancouver, British Columbia), The Vancouver Sun, Times-Colonist (Victoria, British Columbia) and The Windsor Star. “The enrollment of our 10 metro daily newspapers in ABC’s Flyer Distribution Verification Service is a good business decision,” said Dennis Skulsky, president, CanWest MediaWorks Publications Inc. “At CanWest MediaWorks, we are confident that our insert practices are of the highest caliber, but we also recognize that the independent third-party verification ABC will provide is invaluable to our advertisers and to our business.” “FDVS is a remarkable example of newspaper publishers and buyers coming together to evaluate the needs of the Canadian marketplace,” said ABC’s Robert White, senior vice president, Canada. “Representatives from more than 100 media buying and publishing companies worked together and provided constructive input through the Canadian Newspaper Advisory Committee and Canadian Print Advertising Buyers Committee to develop this new service.” Conducted during a newspaper’s annual circulation audit, the qualitative FDVS audit evaluates the flyer insert process for compliance with 10 key points, including reviews of insert-receiving procedures, security policy and practice prior to insert, quality control during insertion and timely and accurate quantity information for advertisers. The results of the audit are published online in ABC’s electronic database. A prototype report is available on ABC’s Web site. The cost of an FDVS audit is $1,200 per newspaper. For more information about FDVS, members are encouraged to contact ABC’s manager, marketing and sales, at (416) 962-5840. Related Links: |
