New Magazine Multimedia Report Reflects Print and Web Site Activity
At its July meeting, the ABC board approved use of a new multimedia report in which consumer magazines can feature both print and online activity on a single ABC report. Along with offering the traditional print data by issue, the report will also feature relevant monthly Web site activity such as unique users, total visits, average visit duration and the most popular sections of the Web site. Unlike the Consolidated Media Report (CMR) for consumer magazines, the multimedia publisher’s statement does not aggregate the print and Web site data. It simply includes the data in the same report. There are two versions of the multimedia report. One report features top-line data and the other includes expanded Web site activity data. “As magazines extend their brands through the Internet, this report adds credibility and single-source access to traditional print data, as well as online activity,” said Mark Wachowicz, ABC’s senior vice president of marketing and sales. “This report serves as a great vehicle to demonstrate brand extension and audience coverage.” The results of an ABC survey on online advertising activity revealed the growing demand from marketers for accountability online. In fact, 84 percent of respondents in the ABC survey agreed that verification of online advertising activity by an independent third-party auditing firm would become increasingly important over the next three years. Responding to the increasing need for online accountability, the multimedia report was designed to provide credible data of both print and online activity on one report. ABC’s new multimedia report has already generated a positive response from publishers that recognize the benefit of having print and online data on one ABC report. To be eligible for this multimedia report, your online data must be audited by ABCi.
