Consumer Magazines: New Paragraph 7A Enhancement to Online Filing Tool

To help reduce the amount of time you spend entering data for your Publisher’s Statement, ABC developed a new tool that allows you to conveniently upload your Paragraph 7A data directly into ABC’s online filing program. (If all of your circulation is reported as analyzed non-paid, the geographic analysis is reported in Paragraph 5A on your Publisher’s Statement, instead of Paragraph 7A. The instructions below also apply to Paragraph 5A.)



Preparing Your File for Upload

Before you begin uploading your Paragraph 7A data, please review the information below to ensure that your files are ready to upload.

First, prepare your files in either a tab or comma delimited format. If you need to change your file format, select Save As from the File drop down menu and then select the appropriate file type from the Save as Type menu.

  • If each category in your spreadsheet is listed in a separate column, save your file as a text format.
  • If each category in your spreadsheet is separated by a comma, save your file as a comma delimited format.

Next, remove any subtotals in your file. The online filing tool automatically calculates all subtotals after you upload your file. If you upload the file with subtotals you will receive an error message.

Finally, review your file for any format or spelling errors. If there are format or spelling errors, you will receive an error message when you attempt to upload your file.

Uploading Your File

Step 1

Visit ABC’s Web site at www.accessabc.com. Select the Online Statement Filing button on the right side of the screen.

Step 2

Enter your login information.

Password Information

If you need a user name and password or if you have misplaced yours, please contact ABC.

Step 3

Once you have logged in, select the Enter Publisher’s Statement and FAS-FAX Data button.

Step 4

Now scroll down to the Paragraph 7 data heading and select the Geographic Data Worksheet button located at the bottom of Paragraph 7A.

Step 5

Click in the Data File field. Here you can enter the name of the file you wish to upload or click Browse to select the file.

Step 6

Choose the type of file—tab or comma delimited. If you are unsure about this step, please refer to the Preparing Your File for Upload section at the beginning of these instructions.

Step 7

Now, enter the column number from your file that corresponds to the data point in the tool. If you do not report a specific data point, leave the field blank. For example, if your file has verified circulation in column three in your file, enter “3” in the Verified field. When you have finished, select the Upload button.

Step 8

The next screen gives you a brief snapshot of the file you just uploaded. Select the Return to Publisher’s Statement button to review your final report before saving or submitting to ABC.

Did you receive an error message?

You may receive an error message if your file has a format or spelling error. You can either correct the file and upload it again or manually enter the data.

Step 9

Please thoroughly review all your data before submitting your final report to ABC.
