How to Use the New PPC Online Tool

Last month, ABC launched the Preprint Projection Center, a new online tool that allows newspapers to provide confidential distribution forecasts to help their advertisers better gauge printing and production requirements for insert advertising months in advance.

Since its release, publishers have expressed great interest in the PPC. Below we provide answers to the most frequently asked questions and instructions on using the online tool for both publishers and buyers.

How do I participate?
For publishers, simply go to the online filing section of ABC’s Web site and enter your online filing username and password. Once you log in, you can begin to upload your data. For advertisers, go to the “Reports and Data Access” blue bar on ABC’s homepage, enter your member number, e-Data user name and password and select the “Preprint Projection Center” button.

What kind of information should I enter into the tool?
The advertisers developed a set of helpful guidelines for publishers to use when uploading data to the tool.

What is the cost to participate?
There is no cost to participate. You must be an ABC member to use the PPC tool.

Who will access the data?
Advertiser and agency members have access to all the newspaper data.

As a newspaper, can I view other publication’s data?
No, publishers can only view their own data. They are unable to open other publisher’s data.

Does ABC audit the data?
All of the data is submitted independently by the publishers and is not audited by ABC.

How often should I upload data?
Publishers can upload as many files as they want as often as necessary. These files can be uploaded in various formats such as Excel, PDF, etc.

Can I delete a file?
You have the option to delete a file from the access data page. Although you can never delete a bonus day, you can enter zeros in the field.

Whom do I contact if I don’t know my online filing password or if I have trouble accessing the PPC tool?
For password information or assistance with the PPC tool, please contact ABC’s manager, marketing and sales, at (847) 879-8412 or manager, marketing and sales, at (847) 879-8321.

How does PPC help media buyers?
PPC provides media buyers more timely circulation projections, allowing them to better plan their preprint production estimates. Additionally, by having access to publisher’s circulation data on a monthly basis, media buyers save time by reducing the need for back-and-forth phone calls and e-mails with publishers.
