Time Inc. Commits All 25 U.S. Titles to Rapid Report

Time Inc., the largest magazine publisher in the U.S., recently committed all of its 25 U.S. consumer magazine titles to Rapid Report by the end of the year.

"Time Inc. embraces the objectives of ABC's Rapid Report—namely, timely dissemination of circulation information to foster greater transparency and accountability for the magazine industry," said John Squires, executive vice president, Time Inc. "We are pleased to commit that all 25 of our U.S. consumer magazine titles will be posting data via Rapid Report this year."

Already reporting top-line circulation in Rapid Report are Time, Time The Weekly Newsmagazine in Canada, Sunset, Southern Living, Cooking Light, Entertainment Weekly, Fortune (North America), Golf Magazine, In Style, Money, People, People en Espanol, Real Simple, Sports Illustrated and This Old House.

Time Inc.’s announcement follows a similar move from Hachette Filipacchi Media, the largest magazine publisher in the world. Beginning with January 2008 issues, all Hachette titles will report top-line circulation data in the online tool. Hachette’s Car and Driver, Road and Track and Woman’s Day currently participate in Rapid Report. Early adopters of Rapid Report include AMI and Meredith, which both began reporting top-line circulation in 2006.

The full participation of Time Inc. and Hachette, along with 14 other titles that have joined Rapid Report since September, are important steps to providing advertisers with quicker, per-issue circulation reporting and transparency. Approximately one-third of the top 200 magazines now use ABC's Rapid Report tool.

ABC Rapid Report allows publishers to voluntarily report their key top-line circulation data on an issue-by-issue basis within weeks of the on-sale or distribution date. The report gives advertisers and advertising agencies timely access to fresh circulation data.

Some of the top-line data offered in Rapid Report includes: paid and verified subscriptions, single-copy sales, rate base and analyzed non-paid circulation.
