Tulsa World Applies for ABC Membership
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (March 23, 2005) -- The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) announced that the Tulsa World (Tulsa, Okla.) has applied for membership to its organization. ABC expects to complete its circulation audit for the newspaper next year, covering the six-month period Oct. 1, 2005, to March 31, 2006.
The Tulsa World, celebrating its centennial in 2005, cited ABC’s experience and credibility as vital reasons for the move.
"My family and I are pleased to announce that the Tulsa World has chosen ABC to perform future circulation audits for our newspaper,” said Tulsa World President Robert E. Lorton III. “No other audit company can match the experience that the ABC staff brings to a publication audit. We believe our advertisers will benefit from the additional information that will be available as a result of this decision."
ABC President and Managing Director Michael J. Lavery noted that ABC audits virtually every paid subscription newspaper in the U.S. with a circulation above 25,000. He added, “We are proud of the confidence the Tulsa World has placed in the ABC audit process. We look forward to working with them to provide their advertisers with in-depth, independently verified circulation data.”
With more than 4,000 members, ABC is in its 91st year as the first and largest circulation-auditing organization in the world. Its members include the world's leading magazine and newspaper publishers, advertisers, and agencies. ABC maintains the world’s foremost electronic database of audited-circulation information and a growing array of verified readership, subscriber demographics and online activity data. ABC offers reports and services in a variety of flexible formats, including print, spreadsheet, CD-ROM and online at http://www.accessabc.com.
