ABC Releases Four More Multimedia Publisher's Statements for Business Publication
ENR, Architectural Record, Floor Covering Weekly and Electronic Products Join RN and Nation’s Restaurant News in Reporting Expanded Audience Metrics
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., (June 3, 2009)The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) announced the release of four more Multimedia Publisher’s Statements for the following business publications: ENR, a publication for all phases of engineering, building and construction; Architectural Record, a publication serving the architectural and engineering markets in the building industry; Floor Covering Weekly, a publication dedicated to the retail of flooring and interior surfacing products; and Electronic Products, a publication for design engineers in the electronics original equipment market.
The four new titles join RN and Nation’s Restaurant News in adopting the new report format that allows business publications to present advertisers with independently verified audience metrics in Paragraph 1 of ABC’s reports. Publishers may include a wide variety of multiplatform audience metrics, including website activity, e-newsletter distribution and pass-along receivership. All of the data elements are totaled and presented as “Total Gross Contacts” on the report.
“We’re excited about ABC’s new multimedia report and the opportunity to expand beyond the traditional print circulation numbers,” said Maurice Persiani, vice president of business services at McGraw-Hill Construction, the publisher of ENR and Architectural Record. “New technology has created so many ways for us to grow and cultivate our audience on multiple levels. As we explore these new opportunities, it’s reassuring to know that ABC has developed a product that will allow us to tell that story to advertisers.”
Barry Green, vice president of circulation and audience development at Hearst Business Media, the company that publishes Floor Covering Weekly and Electronic Products, explained, “Our titles reach their target audiences with more than just the print publication. Including the information on an ABC report automatically gives it more credibility with buyers and opens the door for a more expansive discussion about our multiplatform marketing possibilities. I look at this as the first step in an expanding generation of data to be presented as audited, verified information.”
ABC’s president and managing director, Mike Lavery, commented, “The business publication industry’s response to our new multimedia report has been gratifying and indicates a strong desire to verify a title’s entire media footprint. ABC continues to demonstrate its leadership role in this segment by exploring new opportunities to audit the delivery of content via non-traditional means.”
The four publications each took advantage of the Multimedia Publisher’s Statement’s flexible reporting options and included a variety of metrics alongside the circulation data. Floor Covering Weekly included distribution from two e-newsletters on its report, while Electronic Products reported digital non-continuous bonus market coverage copies. ENR and Architectural Record bothelected to include page impression and unique user data for their respective sites www.enr.com and www.ArchitecturalRecord.com.
A prototype of the Multimedia Publisher’s Statement for business publications is available on ABC’s website. The actual reports for Floor Covering Weekly, Electronic Products, ENR and Architectural Record are available to ABC members in the e-Data center.
