Updates to the standardized listing for publishers to make reporting of Paragraph 6B Verified Individual Use will be maintained on the ABC Web site under the Consumer Magazine Guidelines and Rules subsection.

The ABC code notated for each reporting category represents a 3 digit code offered by ABC to be used by publishers and their fulfillment organizations for classification of individual use copies. This coding system is a suggestion for record keeping by ABC, but is not required. As additional reporting categories are approved for use, those categories will be reflected here in an updated list and assigned a three digit code.

Publishers wishing to make reporting of verified public place to a more detailed level may do so at their option. The publication should contact their publisher relations manager to discuss the publication's specific plans for optional reporting.

Publishers requesting to have consideration given to an additional standardized reporting location (Paragraph 6A) or source (Paragraph 6B) are asked to submit their request in writing to Teresa Perry, Senior Vice President, Publisher Relations and Report Processing, Audit Bureau of Circulations, 900 North Meacham, Schaumburg IL 60173.

Each request will then be considered by the magazine buyer and publisher liaison committees. Liaison committee meetings typically occur quarterly. For your request to be considered timely, the following schedule should be followed:

  • Consideration at winter liaison meetings should arrive to ABC no later than January 1
  • Consideration at spring liaison meetings should arrive at ABC no later than April 1.
