Partnership Sales Rule Modified to Include More than One Magazine
Effective ImmediatelyJuly 27, 2009
At the July 2009 board meeting, Rule F 2.6 Partnership Sales was modified to allow for the inclusion of more than one magazine, up to a maximum of three, for any partnership offer that is conducted through an online or catalog activity. The following rules were established for any partnership promotion with more than one magazine being included:
- The program must be set up with a partner organization where the program is conducted through online or catalog activity. All other activity would only allow for the inclusion of one magazine (i.e., retail location)
- A limit of three magazines in any partnership sale is allowed.
- A tiered purchase would be required for the inclusion of additional magazines. (i.e., purchase of $25.00 or more includes one magazine, purchase of $50.00 or more includes two magazines, purchase of $75.00 or more includes three magazines)
- Refunds for all magazines included have to be available through a single refund request.
- Refund needs to be available for magazines on an individual basis. If the consumer wanted two of the magazines, but wanted a refund for one, this would need to be available to them.
As well, all other partnership guidelines would need to be adhered to, including a simple one-step refund process, as well as presenting the program language in a clear and conspicuous manner.
If you would like to conduct a partnership offer utilizing the new rules that have been established for online and catalog programs and would like ABC to review this program before execution, you can contact your Publisher Relations manager for questions and a full review.
