Magazine Reporting Formats (Effective June 2006)

The ABC board of directors recently adopted modifications to the consumer magazine reporting formats. The new reporting formats are effective for all ABC consumer magazine members beginning with the six-months ending June 30, 2006 Publisher’s Statements.

The three available reporting formats are:

These formats have been modified as follows:
  • Incorporates the ‘Verified’ category of circulation
  • Streamlines the ‘Analyzed Non-Paid’ data
  • Merging of price data into a single paragraph
  • Eliminates the reporting of subscriptions ‘sold at less than 25% of average price’
  • Incorporates a new paragraph for reporting a detailed analysis of the average circulation for each subcategory of paid, verified, and analyzed non-paid (a.k.a. Paragraph 6 for the paid and verified formats)
  • Eliminates the map in the geographic analysis section
  • Reports state data in alphabetical order
  • Modifies the reporting of ‘Channel of Sales’ in the production paragraph for paid circulation
  • Repositions paragraphs within the statement to aid in the flow of information

For more information on each of the three formats, ABC has made a tutorial available for each. The tutorials will walk you through the new format paragraph-by-paragraph. You can either view a Flash presentation online (with audio and PowerPoint slides) or print the presentation slides with speaker notes.
