Separate Edition Rule Modified (Effective March 2006)

At its March 2006 meeting, the ABC board of directors gave final passage to modify Rule F 10.1 Separate Editions.

The modification made was to clarify the definition of an eligible edition. An edition is eligible when:

  • The main identity of the edition is the same as the identity of the primary publication
  • The editorial content of the edition is homogeneous to the primary publication
Editions not adhering to these updated criteria will be considered separate publications, and therefore, will be required to hold separate memberships within ABC.

Example:
“ABC Magazine”

  • All editions claimed as circulation of “ABC Magazine” must carry “ABC Magazine” as the title on the cover. It may then provide a note as to the “Schaumburg edition.”
  • The "Schaumburg edition’s" editorial content must be homogeneous to “ABC Magazine.”
