Electronic Editions—U.S. Newspapers (Effective April 1, 2009 through September 30, 2011)

Pricing

A qualifying price for paid circulation is defined as one cent or more, net of all considerations. See Rule C 1.1 Paid Circulation Defined.

A newspaper may establish separate basic prices for electronic editions (both subscriptions and single copy). You may also establish separate basic prices for hybrid subscriptions.

For example, you may have the following basic prices for one-year, seven-day subscriptions:

  • Print $100
  • Electronic edition $40
  • Hybrid subscription $80

If you take advantage of these basic price opportunities, you must declare these new electronic and hybrid basic prices in your Publisher’s Statements.

Please note that all other pricing rules applicable to print circulation are also applicable to electronic editions and hybrid subscriptions (combination sales, multiple subscriptions, premiums, etc.)
