An ABC Pass-along Receivership Study verifies research conducted to determine "total projected audience," a commonly used business-to-business industry metric that describes the number of qualified subscribers plus the additional people to whom a business publication is routed.
How it Works
- The publisher and the research firm determine the study’s objective and format and submit it to ABC for approval.
- ABC works with a publisher’s contracted research firm that is conducting a publisher’s pass-along receivership study. ABC reviews and approves the pass-along receivership survey to be mailed to the publication’s subscriber sample.
- The publisher designates an analyzed issue for the study.
- Auditors request and review the full file, then reconcile the information to the Publisher’s Statement data for the analyzed issue.
- ABC works with the publisher to determine a sufficient sample size for the study.
- ABC either selects or oversees the selection of the random sample. This sample is then sent to the research firm.
- The research firm assembles and sends the survey to the list of identified recipients.
- Completed surveys are collected by the research firm.
- ABC auditors visit the research company and assess the surveys.
- When at least 40 percent of the surveys are returned, the research firm tabulates the data from the received surveys.
- ABC verifies and determines the final total projected reach as determined by the study.
- Once completed, the study is prepared for release as a Supplemental Data Report.
