How to Report Audience
For many newspapers, audience is important to include on their ABC reports. ABC offers a few options for U.S. newspapers to tell buyers about their audiences.
Audience-FAX
With Audience-FAX, any size U.S. daily newspaper can incorporate circulation, print and online readership, net combined audience and total website usage data on ABC media reports.
Audience-FAX data is featured on the front pages of Publisher’s Statements and Audit Reports and in the semi-annual FAS-FAX report. Users can also analyze audience data in the Audience-FAX industry database or trending analysis tool.
Consolidated Media Reports
Audience data can also be reported on a Consolidated Media Report. The CMR is a newer report for ABC, but it has been gaining a lot of traction with newspapers. The CMR is completely customizable and can contain whichever print, digital or audience metrics to best represent your brand. And if a newspaper is already an Audience-FAX participant, that information can easily be included on a CMR.
Plus, on the CMR, you can add visuals, maps and demographic information to support audience numbers. Take a look at the Austin American-Statesman’s CMR for example.
Audience is the main feature of the first page of the American-Statesman’s report. A map describes the Austin metro area and the Statesman’s reach in that area. The following pages detail circulation for paid, nonpaid and weekly publications, social media, email newsletters and websites. On some products, the average reader is profiled, providing statistics about gender, age, income, home ownership and education.
